Inventory Adjustments
Manually adjust inventory quantities at a specific location to correct stock counts, write off damaged goods, or record received materials.
Overview
An inventory adjustment changes the quantity of an Inventory-type item at a specific location without a transfer. Use adjustments for cycle count corrections, damaged or lost goods, initial stock entry, and any situation where the physical count does not match the system count. Each adjustment records who made it, the adjustment type, the quantity, and an optional description.
Before You Begin
Prerequisites:
You have the Items: Adjust Stock permission on your role.
The item is type Inventory (Non Inventory and Service items do not track stock).
At least one inventory location is active.
Creating an Adjustment
Click Products & Services in the sidebar navigation.
Click an Inventory-type item to open its detail view.
Click the Adjustments tab.
Click + New.
Select the Inventory Location where the adjustment applies.
Select an Adjustment Type that describes the reason for the change.
Enter the Quantity — the number of units to add or remove.
Tip: Add a detailed Description for every adjustment. Notes like "Cycle count correction — found 3 extra units on shelf B2" help during audits and when resolving discrepancies later.
Expected result: Forz creates the adjustment record and updates the stock quantity at the selected location. A line item record is automatically created linking the adjustment to the item for accounting traceability.
When to Use Adjustments
Common Scenarios
Correcting stock after a physical count
A fire safety company performs a quarterly inventory count at their warehouse. The technician counts 82 smoke detectors but the system shows 85. The dispatcher opens the smoke detector item, goes to the Adjustments tab, creates a new adjustment at "Main Warehouse" with a quantity of -3 and the type set to the shrinkage or correction type. The description reads "Q1 cycle count — shelf C4, physical count 82 vs. system 85."
Writing off damaged parts from a vehicle
After an accident, an HVAC technician reports that a box of thermostats in Van 5 was damaged beyond use. The dispatcher creates an adjustment at "Van 5" for -10 thermostats with a description noting the damage incident and date.
Setting initial stock levels for a new location
A plumbing company opens a second warehouse. After moving physical inventory to the new space, the dispatcher creates adjustments for each item at "Warehouse East," entering positive quantities matching the physical count from the receiving checklist.
