Route Planner settings
Set up route templates, technician skills, shift times, locations, and daily optimization preferences.
Overview
Route Planner settings let you prepare reusable Route Templates and maintain User Skills. Templates supply the starting routes for a new daily planner. Each day's optimization type and transport mode are edited on that daily planner.
How to Access
Open the Route Planner navigation menu and choose Settings. Use Route Templates for recurring route setups and User Skills for technician capabilities. The Route Planner module and the appropriate role permissions must be enabled.
Create a Route Template
Open Route Templates and click New Route Template.
Enter a Name and choose a Color so the route is recognizable in the planner.
Select the Members who normally work on this route.
Enter a Start time and review the End time. The end time is initially filled from the start time; change it to match the intended shift.
Set Break Duration in minutes if a lunch or rest break is needed.
Select the Start Location and End Location from the address suggestions. Use Same as start location if the route returns to its starting point.
Click Save.
Cancel closes the drawer and discards unsaved changes. It does not create or update a template.
Times and duration
Use a valid time such as 8:30 AM. Exact minutes are preserved.
The time between start and end must be a whole number of hours from 1 to 20. For example, 8:30 AM–4:30 PM is valid; 8:30 AM–5:00 PM is not.
Break duration must be a whole number from 0 to 120 minutes.
Review both times before saving, especially after changing the start time.
Locations
Choose a matching address suggestion to give the location valid map coordinates. If you edit the text of a previously selected address, select the correct suggestion again. An unresolved address cannot be used for route planning.
How Templates Affect Daily Planners
When you first open a date without a planner, Forz creates that day's planner and copies your route templates into it. The resulting daily routes can then be edited for that day's members, schedule, and locations.
Editing a template changes the setup used for newly created planners. It does not rewrite routes on planners that already exist. For an existing day, open that planner and edit its route directly. If no template is available, create a route on the daily planner before assigning or optimizing jobs.
Manage User Skills
Open User Skills from Route Planner settings.
Review and update the skills assigned to each technician.
Make sure the members assigned to a route provide the skills needed by its jobs.
A route uses the combined skills of its assigned members. A job that requires several skills needs a route that provides all of them. The same skill check applies when you manually assign or move a job.
Set a job's required skills in its dispatch information. Only change a skill requirement when the work itself no longer requires that skill.
Change Optimization Settings for a Day
Open an editable daily planner.
Open More options in the header and choose Edit.
Choose an Optimization Type: Balanced, Minimize Distance, or Minimize Time.
Choose a Transport Mode: Car or Truck.
Save, then run Optimize or Reoptimize before dispatching.
These settings affect that day's calculations. Truck mode can produce different routes or leave different jobs unassigned because of road access and vehicle restrictions.
Troubleshooting
A template change is missing from tomorrow's planner: if that planner already existed, edit its daily route directly.
The form rejects the shift: check the time format and use a 1–20 whole-hour duration.
An address cannot be saved: choose a valid address suggestion again after editing it.
A job cannot be assigned to a route: compare its required skills with those of the assigned members and check its schedule, weekday, service duration, and address.
Dispatch is disabled after editing settings: reoptimize the planner and review the updated results.
Continue with Route Planner or Smart Dispatch.
